The 12A team started off pool play with a tight game against Wayzata, solid pitching and timely hitting through the line up proved to be the difference. In the next pool game against Oakdale everything went Big Willow's way in a game shortened by the 10 run rule. The final pool game saw the wheels come off in the first and Edina put up 9 runs, after 2 Big willow found itself down 10 to 1 (the biggest deficit of the season to date). The team chipped away and eventually came away with a 12 to 12 tie to finish pool play 2-0-1. Sunday brought a match up against the 2nd seed Buffalo, this time it was Buffalo that gave up the big number early with Big Willow getting a 11 run second on route to a 16 to 9 victory. Big Willow got out early in the championship game against host West St Paul and never trailed until the 5th when West St Paul got a timely 2 on 2 out 2 strike line drive single that plated the tying and game winning runs. In the championship Big Willow had 6 pitchers scheduled to pitch and 7 different players pitched over the weekend, big hits and key fielding plays came from up and down the line up.  This gave the 12A team their second 2nd place finish of the year and births to both Gopher State and MBT State Tournaments.   Way to Go 12A!!
